I don’t like zoos where animals have these kind of poor environments, really.

3 November 2009, byI’m a bit shy. Maybe that’s gonna make some people smile, but the fact is I am somehow. Taking a camera and shooting at people is of course exposing them to my film, but it’s also exposing myself to others more than what I would.
I was walking in Shanghai today; the sky was blue, the sun was shining, birds were gathering twigs and leaves (and cigarettes); I was wondering "what if I don’t aim with my eyes while taking photos?"
Then I just let the camera do the talking. Hanging in my hand, set to speed priority, I was just turning it to different points that looked interesting, at waist height. That’s just a big parallax, in the end.
Here are 5 of the photos I took. They’re worth what they’re worth; I may try harder to see just how interesting things can become. Don’t stop walking, just move your arm and shoot. Keep that in mind: you’re your surroundings’ thief and you don’t want to get caught; don’t look at your camera.
Let’s see if Stéphane, izo, Pierre, Magic and Twiggy feel like shooting and showing us 5 photos taken like this...

I like this photo, not because I was guiding two really nice people through Shanghai at that time, but because it expresses well some of my feelings about China: a country of contrasts, where the new and the old are blurred into distinctive and often destructive realities, where fake and authentic are evolving side by side, where the rich and the poor can still live in the same streets without feeling ashamed from the other’s behaviours.
I like this photo because it absolutely looks "photoshoped". Yeah... not GIMP, Photoshop. You know? The nearly “free software” you can find in the streets.
I guess the Yin & Yang don’t come out of the blue, everything here is mixed for the worst, and the best. As the Weiqi we were talking about (right after discussing about Age of Empires, talking about contrasts) this last Thursday, while drinking too much Baijiu to celebrate the bid our client just won, it’s a lose to win game...
That rings some bells.

They’re to be sold if you’re interested. They’re all pure blood cats coming from a British short hair for the female and a white/beige scottish fold for the male.
(and they’re amazingly cute, too... damn.)
