contrasts

I like this photo, not because I was guiding two really nice people through Shanghai at that time, but because it expresses well some of my feelings about China: a country of contrasts, where the new and the old are blurred into distinctive and often destructive realities, where fake and authentic are evolving side by side, where the rich and the poor can still live in the same streets without feeling ashamed from the other’s behaviours.

I like this photo because it absolutely looks "photoshoped". Yeah... not GIMP, Photoshop. You know? The nearly “free software” you can find in the streets.

I guess the Yin & Yang don’t come out of the blue, everything here is mixed for the worst, and the best. As the Weiqi we were talking about (right after discussing about Age of Empires, talking about contrasts) this last Thursday, while drinking too much Baijiu to celebrate the bid our client just won, it’s a lose to win game...

That rings some bells.
