ACCOR Academy

(fr)

ACCOR asked naço architectures to Design a hotel which would also be a hotel training center.

With a very short schedule, we proposed something dynamic, mixing smaller comfy with bigger ones, Occidental and Chinese styles. Using the round outer shape of the building and the grid of the structure, we were able to create overtures and narrowings.

Entrance Lobby

The entrance lobby has been designed to give as much light as possible into the building. The reception becomes the articulation of the building, sustaining the stairs that lead to the second floor.

Those stairs are made of two parts:

  • One leaving from the first floor, massive to hide the view of the staff corridor behind the reception desk.
  • The other one is going from the roof of the luggage room to the auditorium’s lobby on the second floor. It’s overhanging the way to the elevators and made lighter with the help of string curtains and a very light silt.
Those string curtains are also surrounding the platform on the top of the luggage room giving a semi-public area with a soft limit.

Restaurant

The restaurant is opened to the entrance lobby and is like a continuity: the round elevation has a hard slate floor that links both, plus the wooden ceiling that’s turning round from horizontal in the restaurant to vertical in the lobby.
This slate flooring is ending gently on boxes that make a limit with private rooms on the back of the building.

The terrace

This part of the building is sheltered but opened.
We then designed it like an outside garden; with lots of vegetation and some swings hanged from the vegetalized ceiling in place of common chairs.

The auditorium

We kept consistent with the materials used on the first floor and used blades of wood; it allows noise traps and reduce the overall echo of such big areas.
