Reused Carton Chair Design

(fr)

This school project was aiming for the creation of a chair only made of reused carton; no glue, no nails, nothing more than reused carton.

The idea is simple: to wrap the user into cardboard.

The cylindrical shape straightens naturally the whole furniture. It’s coming from a three layered corrugated fiberboard which was used as a package fort bicycles in a supermarket; it’s used to create the seating and most of the elements.

The seating is only used as a standoff. It just keeps the shape cylindrical, as the ring at feet level does. It’s being supported by a cross made of corrugated fiberboard and thick paperboard.

Simple and effective, this chair allows a person weighting more than 100 kilos to seat (or stand) on it, or a child to jump.
